Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Purchasing Agent to join our team. As a purchasing agent, you will evaluate vendors, obtain the cost and delivery of raw material, and purchase hardware and supplies. This position is excellent for anyone with exceptional customer service skills and a positive team-oriented attitude looking to grow their skills.
Duties:
- Build and maintain a network of reliable vendors.
- Work with shipping & receiving to receive incoming parts through JobBoss and get them out to the floor/operators
- Field all incoming tooling requests – work with operators/foreman to decide what should be purchased and how many tools are needed.
- Client Lunches – take orders from clients spending the day in-office, pickup and drop off lunch.
- Own and update the Vacation Schedule; receive Vacation Forms, update spreadsheet and hand to Office Manager.
- Work with Accounting to edit and update any incorrect PO’s; confirm with vendors final pricing along with updating open PO’s.
- Work with VP and GM on creating specialty PO’s for new machines, software, etc.
- Update Vendor List, including adding in new vendors; complete New Vendor Evaluation Forms along with the Office Manager.
- Collaborate with various internal departments to ensure that they fulfill all customer requests.
- Sourcing suppliers based on price, availability, necessity, quality.
- Evaluate supplier offerings against key business criteria and requested product specifications.
- Evaluate vendors and select the appropriate vendor that will best meet price, delivery, and quality requirements.
- Issue purchase orders through the ERP system.
- Maintain vendor list by area of qualifications.
- Support sourcing for sales and quoting department.
- Maintain and update requirements for government web sites.
- Assist management in other areas as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of materials and ability to locate sources on materials.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to use ERP for issuing and maintaining purchase orders.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Ability to read blueprints to determine material requirements and sizes.
- Ability to work with government web sites to obtain solicitations and tech packages.
- Flexible to work long hours as required to meet project deadlines.
- Overtime available
Pay is based on experience in the manufacturing industry specifically.
- $28/hour
